Industrial Design     Pentax     cameras     design     photography     yellow     modern
Pentax K-01 camera designed by Marc Newson

“…Newson always incorporates thoughtful proportions. In this case, he not only worked with Pentax on the camera body, but also on the 40mm F2.8 kit lens that comes with it. The pancake lens is impossibly thin, measuring in at .36 inches—just enough room for a manual focus ring, and that’s about it. The K-01 uses the standard K-mount so it’s compatible with every lens Pentax has made over the years. Removing the viewfinder and the mirror from the equation also gave Newson more creative flexibility…” —Josh Rubin, Cool Hunting

I usually shy away from bright yellow fashion accessories or gadgets. But, this new Pentax K-01 designed by Marc Newson, makes it to my too pricey wishlist.

“Photography in abundance” / 24 Hours of Flickr Photos installation by Erik Kessels

“Through the digitalisation of photography and the rise of sites such as Flickr and Facebook, everyone now takes photos, and distributes and shares them with the world - the result is countless photos at our disposal. Kessels visualises ‘drowning in pictures of the experiences of others’, by printing all the images that were posted on Flickr during a 24-hour period and dumping them in the exhibition space. The end result is an overwhelming presentation of a million prints.” — What’s Next? The Future of the Photography Museum exhibit at Foam

Artist Liu Bolin, has his body meticulously painted and photographed, creating the illusion of disappearing into various surroundings. The Beijing based photographer has a solo exhibition on view at the Eli Klein Fine Art gallery in NYC through August 28th, 2011. The Invisible Man show “continues his exploration of Chinese national identity and the relationship between human beings and the environment…”

But, Liu Bolin may also be spotted around the city, interacting with the New York landscape. In the video above (shared by Wooster Collective), Liu Bolin blends into a Kenny Scharf mural as part of a new live performance piece.
