    The Devil’s Toy

“It was frowned upon by the constabulary and disapproving adults, but the skateboard gave the youngsters who mastered its technique a thrilling sensation of speed unexcelled by any other pavement sport. Filmed in 1966 on Montréal streets before the elongated roller skate was banned, this film captures the exuberance of boys and girls having the time of their lives in free-wheeling downhill locomotion.”

“Designing the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics”

“The Vancouver Olympics begin this Friday. It’s true, they won’t be quite the design extravaganza that London 2012 will be—but there’s still going to be hundreds of millions of dollars in design on display, everywhere from the uniforms to the buildings to the branding…” —Cliff Kuang for Fast Company

On January 28th, 2010, escape to an enchanted evening of frozen fairy tales, celebrity DJ guests, and a scattering of top UK designers strutting their stuff at a central London location as Vauxhall Motors brings you Vauxhall Ice Skate.” —Vauxhalliceskate, (follow them on twitter)

    Sculpture art at Publix supermarket
This photo caught my attention because after growing up in Florida, Publix is forever my supermarket of choice (the one thing other than weather & family I miss). Maybe it is because I always got a free cookie from the bakery as a kid.
I assumed that this soda box sculpture is in support of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And sure enough after a little research, Publix is the “official supermarket of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team.” Anyone know of any other photos like the above of sculpture displays at Publix?

The Olymperials is a great archive of original Olympic posters from around the world (over 3,100 images in collection!). I wish that there were illustrator and designer credits included for all posters, but as many of these are so rare and old it’s probably very difficult to track them all down.

ESPNOutdoors.com redesigns their web site, using much of the same visual language of the parent ESPN.com site to pull the brands closer together.
A new video carousel on the homepage has a wide, 16-by-9 format with clips both short and long, engaging you to dig a little further (after watching a pre-roll of course).
